Marketing Intern (part-time)
Position Summary
The Marketing Intern plays a key role in growing Silver Lake Auto's presence across social media, search (SEO), generative engine optimization (GEO), and AI. We've built a strong foundation — now we're looking for a valuable contributor who can give these channels dedicated focus, bring fresh ideas, and help us stay ahead as platforms and search behavior evolve.
This role adds real capacity to our marketing team. You'll manage day-to-day execution on these channels, support marketing operations, and work directly with the Director of Marketing and Talent Acquisition to turn strategy into results. We're looking for someone who knows these platforms well, stays current on what's working, and brings ideas forward with confidence. Along the way, you'll gain exposure to how direct mail, email campaigns, Google Ads, our CRM, and brand awareness initiatives (podcasts, billboards, sponsorships, and more) fit into a full marketing plan.
Primary Responsibilities
Social Media & Content
▪ Create and edit short-form video content that builds on our established brand voice across TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts — shop moments, technician tips, and company events.
▪ Track platform trends and algorithm changes; pitch content ideas aligned with our brand tone.
▪ Track engagement and performance metrics for video content; recommend improvements based on what the data shows.
▪ Schedule and publish content using Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn, and similar tools.
▪ Monitor social channels, forums, and community pages (Reddit, Nextdoor, local Facebook groups) for mentions of Silver Lake Auto.
▪ Help build and test Meta Ads campaigns (Facebook and Instagram), especially for recruiting.
SEO & Local Search
▪ Regularly update and maintain Google Business Profiles and other digital profiles across all locations — including business information, descriptions, photos, and video — so content and imagery stay current, accurate, and on-brand.
▪ Draft and publish Google Posts on our business profiles.
▪ Improve search visibility by optimizing page content and metadata, and recommending internal links that add structure to our sites.
▪ Partner with our website vendor (Autoshop Solutions) on SEO and blog content.
GEO & AI
▪ Lead efforts to strengthen how Silver Lake Auto shows up on AI-driven platforms (ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Perplexity).
▪ Test and track how AI tools answer auto repair questions in our markets; recommend ways to improve our presence.
▪ Stay current on AI tools and flag practical uses for marketing and other departments.
Reputation & Reporting
▪ Monitor and tag customer reviews for response or escalation.
▪ Track performance across social, search, and AI visibility; share what's working and what's not.
Marketing Operations Support
▪ Proof outbound materials before launch; catch errors before they reach customers.
▪ Help draft internal newsletter, presentations, and promotional content.
▪ Draft and schedule content as directed; submit for Director review and approval before publishing.
▪ Maintain the brand asset library — logos, templates, approved photography, and copy guidelines.
▪ Keep campaign timelines, vendor contacts, and deliverables organized and up to date.
▪ Compile performance data for Director review.
Events & Community
▪ Help plan and support company events — logistics, timelines, materials, and day-of support.
▪ Capture photos and short-form video at events for use across social, digital profiles, and the website.
▪ Promote events before, during, and after through social posts and recap content.
▪ Support local marketing and community partnerships with on-brand materials and follow-up.
What Success Looks Like
▪ Our social, search, and AI presence grows more consistent, visible, and engaging.
▪ Content is published on schedule, on-brand, and error-free.
▪ Digital profiles are accurate and refreshed with current content and imagery across all locations, and search and AI visibility is measurably improving.
▪ Events run smoothly, are well promoted, and are captured with content we can use across channels.
▪ You're a trusted contributor who brings fresh perspective and practical recommendations forward.
What You'll Gain
This role is built for someone who wants to make a real impact — not just check a box. You'll get:
▪ Hands-on responsibility for platforms and tasks with real results for your portfolio.
▪ Exposure to the full marketing mix — direct mail, email campaigns, Google Ads, CRM, and brand awareness initiatives (podcasts, billboards, sponsorships, and more).
▪ A seat at the table with a professional marketing team, seeing how strategy turns into execution.
Core Values in Action
Family — Show up as a reliable team member. Build real relationships with the people you work with.
Integrity — Represent Silver Lake Auto honestly and professionally in every post, listing, and piece of content.
Hospitality — Create content that makes customers and team members feel seen and valued — the right message, on the right platform.
Growth — Stay curious. Bring new ideas. Look for ways to make our marketing better.
Professionalism — Produce work that's consistent, accurate, and polished.
Initiative — Don't wait to be pointed at the opportunity. Notice it, recommend something, and follow through.
Qualifications
▪ Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.
▪ Strong, hands-on experience with socials including YouTube Shorts — and how content works differently on each.
▪ Understanding of Meta Ads (Facebook and Instagram) — campaign setup, audience targeting, and reading performance results.
▪ Working knowledge of SEO and local search; interest in GEO and how AI is changing search.
▪ Comfortable using AI tools and curious about new ones.
▪ Experience with Canva, CapCut, or similar tools; Adobe Suite a plus.
▪ A passion for visual storytelling and a good eye for design and branding.
▪ Strong written and verbal communication skills.
▪ Organized, self-directed, and confident in bringing ideas forward; thinks independently and acts with initiative.
▪ Able to prioritize and execute in a fast-paced environment.
▪ Working knowledge of key marketing metrics (engagement rate, CTR, conversion rate, cost per lead) and what they say about performance.
